There was a very interesting radio discussion on March 9, 2010 about first-generation college students. This was aired on KQED's Forum show hosted by Michael Krasny. This special 2-hour version took place live at the Downtown College Prep high school in San Jose. For some of you this may be a very interesting listen, and may shed some new light on self-regulation (as well as other issues).
Essentially the focus of the show is on high school students who may end up being the first college-attending-student in their family. The discussion tries to uncover what seem to be some successful strategies for helping these students prepare for, and succeed in, a college environment.
