Academic Software Pricing

Small software companies typically offer some form of academic pricing for their software. However, larger companies tend to only offer the products via academic pricing at only a few specific stores. There are several websites for buying academic products, but one that I recommend is named Academic Superstore.

Three key things were mentioned in class: (1) there is no need to mark up your articles electronically, (2) Mac-users have two very good free options named Preview and Skim, and (3) all users can likely buy Acrobat Professional 9 for just under $70. Use the link below to see whether your school/institution affiliation allows you to get the $70 price at Academic Superstore. Their "usual" academic price for this product is $149.

Note: In the place where you enter "school/institution name" I would only put in part of the name (for example "san francisco" instead of USF). This partial name will bring up a drop down list. If you put in the full name, and your institution did not supply that EXACT name, then you'll falsely conclude that your institution is not on their list.
