Script for using Learning Materials

This post repeats what I said during our last class and gives a basic script for using the various learning materials. For Sessions 2, 3, and 4 I highly suggest using the learning materials for a relevant session in this order:
  1. Listen to the basic presentation audiobook. This will give you the big picture regarding the concepts and research in the topic area.

  2. Listen to the relevant research aloud audiobook. This will provide important scaffolding about how to read one of the five required articles.

  3. Read the research aloud article. The audiobook covered the structure of the article, and provided tips, but didn't really focus on the content of the article.

  4. Read the other required articles.

  5. Use other learning materials (optional or required).
Once we get to the learning materials for Session 5 (on Self-Regulation) then it makes sense for some of you to change this script and perhaps use the materials in a more flexible fashion based on your needs. However, for the first third of the course the suggested steps provide the smoothest and most effective way to digest the learning materials in this course.
